To safely run heliskiing in the Caucasus and in Kamchatka refering the dimensions and wilderness of our locations, we offer a specialized guiding standard. One helicopter load consists of a group of maximum of 12 skiers who are joined by three or four guides: UIAGM mountain guides and highly experienced russian heli-guides. That allows therefore to progress in the mountains with small groups. This combination covers the full spectrum of hosting and guiding in the Russian Mountains. Since we can not relay on a Mountain rescue infrastructure like in the Alps, we consider this measure as a necessity to install maximum safety and efficiency on our operation!
The machines we use are MI-8, the extremely powerful, Russian built twin turbine helicopters. They are chartered from one of the biggest russian private companies — GAZPROM and KAMCHATKA AIRLINES — which garantees that their helicopters are revised and maintained following international protocols. There is space for up to 18 passangers with 2 pilots and one mechanical engenieer as the standard crew. Both pilots and engineers are highly trained and qualified professionals with a wealth of mountain flying experience. In Kamchatka we enjoy the fact that one Helicopter is exclusively reserved for us! Once in the area there are no restrictions on landing zones other than weather and snow conditions.
Each guide has all the nessesary first aid equipment in his pack, as well as the radio link to other guides, the helicopter and the local civil rescue service. Each participant is supplied with the following equipment: AirBag ABS system, avalanche transceiver, shovel and probe. We also recommend to use the helmet. | ||||||||||||||
